School Board Vacancy

With the recent passing of Board of Education Trustee Vern Dahl, the Board is seeking to fill the vacancy.  Applications are now available for the vacant seat.

 

California law requires that candidates meet the following minimum eligibility requirements to be considered for provisional appointment to the Board:

 

  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The candidate must be a citizen of California.
  • The candidate must be a registered voter.
  • The candidate must not be disqualified from holding a civil office.
  • The candidate must be a resident of Trustee Area 3. 

 

Trustee Area 3 generally includes a southern part of Grover Beach, south of Farroll Avenue and east of South 13th Street and then follows the Arroyo Grande city limits to the east.  Area 3 also includes the majority of Oceano, and areas south and west of Halcyon Road, west of Guadalupe Road, and west of West El Campo Road.  You can find the detailed map on our website: https://www.luciamarschools.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=843915&type=d&pREC_ID=2175456

 

Applications are available at the link below or at the District Office at 602 Orchard St., Arroyo Grande, CA 93420.

Interested candidates are invited to complete the application packet and submit it to the District Office or via email to: marilyn.dwight@lmusd.org by 4:00 pm on December 6, 2021.

 

 

 

If you download the application, it is a fillable form. Please fill it out, save it and email it to Marilyn Dwight.  You may also print the application and mail it to the district office.  

 

 

Next Steps

December 7, 2021 – December 12, 2021
 

The advisory committee will review and screen the applications. The District will post the names of the eligible candidates on the District website. 

The week of December 13, 2021 
The District will hold a special board meeting (tentatively scheduled for December 17, 2021) to interview candidates in open session.  The Board will vote to select the provisional appointee, and the new appointee will be sworn in.
