Transitional Kindergarten Fall
If a child has a birth date between September 2 and December 2, he/she is eligible for Transitional Kindergarten.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) has been established by the Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010: Senate Bill 1381. The Kindergarten Readiness Act pushes back the entrance birth date for kindergarten. Children must be five years old on or before September 1, 2016 to enroll in kindergarten.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program for students no longer eligible for kindergarten. A modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate will be used. The Transitional Kindergarten Program will support our children’s love of learning and gives them the gift of time to help them develop the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to succeed in kindergarten.
Nipomo area Transitional Kindergarten students will go to Nipomo Elementary School. Students in the Five Cities area will attend TK at Grover Heights, Oceano, Fairgrove, or Shell Beach Elementary Schools—depending on space available.
