Summer Blast

We are very excited to offer a variety of classes for all of our LMUSD students.

Registration for grades 1-8 was sent out via ParentSquare. Registration closes on April 19, 2023. By April 28, 2023, families will be notified once their student(s) have been enrolled or are placed on the waitlist.
 
Space is limited by grade level and enrollment is not guaranteed.
 
If your child is currently in grades 1-8 and they attend:
 
Grover Beach, Oceano, Fairgrove, Grover Heights - Summer Blast Site: Grover Beach Elementary
Harloe, Shell Beach, Ocean View, Branch - Summer Blast Site: Harloe Elementary
Dana, Lange, Nipomo Elementary - Summer Blast Site: Dana Elementary
Paulding or Judkins - Summer Blast Site: Arroyo Grande High School
Mesa - Summer Blast Site: Central Coast New Tech High School
 
Overview of the day:
7:30AM - 8:30AM (optional) breakfast and group activity
8:30AM -12:00PM classes begin and run approximately 55 minutes each
12:00PM -12:30PM lunch will be served and available for am and/or pm students
12:30PM - 4:00PM classes resume and run approximately 55 minutes each
4:00PM - 4:30PM (optional) - snack and group activity
 
If enrolled in Summer Blast, your child will need to attend from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm if they are just attending the morning session, 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm if they are only attending the afternoon session, and 8:30 am to 4:00 pm if they are attending the entire day. Students are granted one excused absence and must be present on the first day of Summer Blast.
 
What classes will be offered?
There will be academic classes offered as well as enrichment and recreation classes. Some examples are math, reading, writing, poetry, soccer, cooking, building, technology etc. Specific class options will be included in registration paperwork.

Does my child need to attend the entire day?
No! You can attend the morning, afternoon, or both.

Where can my child attend Summer Blast?
1-6 grades at Grover Beach, Harloe, and Dana Elementary. 7-8 at AGHS and CCNTHS. Students will be placed at the school site closest to their school of residence.

Does this cost money?
Summer Blast is free for current LMUSD students in grades 1-8.

Where do I sign up?
Please fill out the interest survey today and then registration will begin via ParentSquare on April 3,2023.

Can my TK student or kindergartener attend Summer Blast?
Outside agencies (Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, & Nipomo Rec.) will be offering a free summer program for current TK/K LMUSD students. Look for more information later in the spring.

Are special education services offered through Summer Blast?
If you have questions about your child's special education services during the summer, please contact your child's case manager.
 
What times will Summer Blast run?
Session 1 June 15 - July 7 (no school June 19 & July 4)
Session 2 July 10 - 28
AM session 8:30-12:30 PM session 12:30-4:30
Optional early drop off 7:30-8:30 (breakfast provided)
Your child is required to attend the session you sign up for.

Summer Blast is funded by the Extended Learning Opportunities Grant which dictates priority registration will be granted to our migrant, homeless, foster, and English language learner students.

¿Qué clases se ofrecerán?
Habrá clases académicas y también de enriquecimiento y recreación. Algunos ejemplos son matemáticas, lectura, escritura, poesía, fútbol, cocina, construcción, tecnología, etc. Las opciones de clases específicas estarán en el papeleo de inscripción.

¿Mi hijo necesitará asistir todo el día?
¡No! Podrá asistir en la mañana, al mediodía, o a las dos.

¿Dónde puede asistir mi hijo al Verano Espectacular?
Grados 1-6 en las Primarias Grover Beach, Harloe y Dana. 7-8 en AGHS y CCNTHS. Los estudiantes serán colocados en la escuela que esté más cercana a su domicilio.

¿Habrá algún costo?
El programa de Verano Espectacular será gratis para estudiantes de LMUSD en grados 1-8.

¿En dónde me inscribo?
Complete hoy mismo la encuesta de interés y las registraciones comienzan en abril 3, por medio de ParentSquare.

¿Mi niño de TK o Kínder puede asistir a Verano Espectacular?
Las agencias externas (Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, y Nipomo Rec.) ofrecerán un programa de verano gratis para estudiantes de LMUSD inscritos en TK/Kinder. Espere más información más adelante en la primavera.

¿Habrá servicios de educación especial en Verano Espectacular?
Si tiene preguntas sobre los servicios de educación especial de su hijo durante el verano, hable con el administrador del caso de su hijo.
 
¿Cuál será el horario de Verano Espectacular?
Sesión 1: 15 de junio a 7 de julio (no habrá clases el 19 de junio y el 4 de julio)
Sesión 2: 10 a 28 de julio
Sesión de la mañana: 8:30-12:30 Sesión de mediodía: 12:30-4:30
Opción de llegar temprano 7:30-8:30 (se ofrecerá desayuno)
El niño tendrá que asistir a la sesión que se inscriba.

Verano Espectacular es financiado por la concesión de oportunidades de aprendizaje extendido la cual indica que se debe ofrecer inscripción prioritaria a los estudiantes migrantes, sin hogar, de crianza temporal y aprendices del inglés.
