Welcome to the LMUSD Food Services Department
The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students’ health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.
E. coli O157:H7 Infections Linked to Romaine Lettuce
The safety of our students is our utmost importance, therefore the Food Services Department wants to reassure parents that lettuce being served in our school lunch program is safe. Due to the recent multi-state E.coli outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended avoiding any romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region. We have verified with our suppliers that all lettuce being served in our cafeterias comes from California and does not come from the growing area that the CDC is concerned about. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will update you on any changes as it pertains to the school lunch program.
